Is Creativity evil or intellect....
The concept of arts has existed in human minds for millions of years. Art is believed to be one of the first things man used to communicate and express his inner self. We can imagine the importance of expression with a thought that expression of love and emotions formed the first ever relationship between man and woman producing generation of mankind. The forms of art changed with progression of time and development of cultures. Religions also relied heavily on art to symbolize gods, sacred texts and beliefs. Apart from religions music, poetry, scripts, sculptures and languages evolved from arts formulating perceptions. Artists in all the eras advocated art as a medium to reflect cultures, communicate harmony and message, reveal creativity of minds and for even changing society in an effective and desired manner. If we run through the history then maybe all this is true but the irony lies in the fact that the dark side of art is hidden under the attractive and celebrated surface. The same concept became the basis of the consideration to control minds. Alexander was the first one to realize that playing with images could manipulate and suppress the perceptions. He achieved this through advent of coins used for daily transactions throughout his empire with his images on them. Anthropologists view this idea to constantly realize people that Alexander was their King and all their dealings were done because of his permission. The constant realisation was serving no other purpose then imposing the perception that they were his subordinates. Even in today’s democratic and modern world media is used to portray images reflecting fake perspectives hiding the truth. We form opinions on the basis of what is being showed to us through images without acknowledging that it could be manipulated to play with our perceptions. The purpose for highlighting this is not to suggest that arts is a form to keep us away from truth and freedom but to raise a concern that what is inside us that uses every concept perceived to be serving good for controlling our emotions, limiting our perceptions and gaining power? Arts is not the only from distracted as there are many other things invented or existed for convenience and development are diverted from their basic purpose to dominate and create fear among common people. I have mentioned arts to illustrate this important concern because even a concept like arts that sounds entertaining, way to escape and a relief is moulded to craft psychological chains around our vision. The answer to the question raised is not only important to know our true selves but also it is high time to atleast break the shackles tied by our own selves to escape the notion of willing slaves.[/SIZE]
